Jossakeed and Cici’s beautiful VICTORY GARDEN in the Historic West End (Holderness):
The front yard is refitted w/ lots of edible veggies and fruits.
Cici shows me their amazing trellises. Theyr'e handmade w/ bambo and stand over 5ft tall.
The boxes were also handmade. They're long yet the width allows you to reach the middle of the boxes from either side.
Cici shows me her Asian cucumber plants...
The front of the porch is lined w/ pretty blueberry bushes.
Grapes line the side of the house
Heading to the backyard...
The planters are divided into squares (1 sq. ft.) to help maximize space.
In the backyard: Trellis-in the making
Reuse tires as planters
The scare crow...the girls replace his head with a basketball.
Three sisters: beans, corn and squash. Stepsister added to the middle: sunflower.
Cici has tomato and pepper plants available if anyone is interested.
They also have tons of seeds to share.
Cici talked about the role that the garden has played in getting to know her neighbors. She said the children come by and love helping with gardening tasks. It's been a positive way to build community.
In addition to creating lovely gardens, they make and ride bikes!
Thanks Cici!!! I so enjoyed the tour of your beautiful garden. Many blessings!
